# Apostolic Creed
- Coming from [[South Sudan]], [[Justin Badi Arama]] was pleasantly surprised to see the church is beside [[BBC]], commonly held to be truth-telling news in [[Africa]]
- Three creeds historically:
- [[Athanasian Creed]]
- Obsoleted by the next two
- [[Apostles' Creed]] (Apostolic)
- Personal -- express faith individually before baptism and confimration
- [[Nicene creed]]
## What does "Apostolic" faith mean?
- Christian system of belief that seeks to return to the faith and teachings of the [[Apostle]]s of [[Jesus]] as recorded in the [[New Testament]]
- In the text, everybody was in the church, but their teachings and knowledge were quite diverse and different.
- In verse 5, [[Paul]] makes a strong call to "examine yourselves!" And test whether they are truly in the faith
- So we are to examine ourselves and see if our believes are indeed governed by the scriptures, rather than our personal likes and dislikes
- Verse 11: You are to be joyful when in [[Christ]]. Even with all sorts of worldly challenges, there can be joy found in [[Christ]]
- We should be a church that transforms the life around us
- [[Paul]] concludes his words with a trinitarian blessing
- We should continue to be a church that prioritizes apostolic teaching above anything else, and that each member can go out and transform the world, or [[London]], with the gospel truth
