Current top 5 most highly paid jobs are - pilots and ATC - IT directors - CEOs and business managers - Senior doctors - Head Teachers - Chance to do something fun. Some fun jobs are - chocolate consultant - beer taster - Lego sculpter - professional sleeper - overall sense of achievement and satisfaction - many high paid jobs don't do well here - Personal responsibility and chance to create/build something more satisfying than sorting out someone else's problem - painter, decorator Many of us feel that most of that is unattainable, and that the drudgery takes over our lives [[Bible]] tells us that work is good and humans are created for work. But like all things affected by sin 1. Can become idle - Can be lazy, can be something we want to do bare minimum on - can see it just as earning money for giving to church, or as just a platform for evangelism - But [[Jesus]] says work itself is important, and how you do it is important 2. Can make work an idol - can expect it to give us identity and sense of purpose far more than it's worth Christians can see that no matter how you do your job, you have the best job in the world, cause [[Jesus]] is your boss Verse 9-10 -- we are a chosen people, [[God]]'s special possession, through his mercy. So [[Jesus]] is always our ultimate boss Rather than "work-life balance", we should see ourselves as living holistic lives # What does it look like for [[Jesus]] to be your boss? [[Ally Henderson]] is not a full-time minister and is a lawyer. Knows it is hard to interact with colleagues in a secular environment ## Working for [[Jesus]] means being distinctively good - Verse 11-12: Working for [[Jesus]] starts not with speaking about it, but about living good lives. - [[Holy Spirit]] can use our good lives to convict others of their sins and maybe convert - Pursue integrity, pursue love. Be known as the one who will do the right thing, and as the kind person. Don't be a gossip Our sins are forgiven: Monday morning, we can walk in, knowing our failures are forgiven, and try again ## Working for [[Jesus]] means being ready to speak about him Verses 16-17 Pray, care, ask, share ## Be ready for the fact the people may not always like that - even if model employee, there may still be pressure for living and speaking for [[Jesus]]
