A city in the [[Lycus valley]] in [[Asia Minor]], located near [[Laodicea]]. The church at [[Colossae]] was founded by [[Epaphras]], a "dear fellow servant" of [[Paul]]. Though [[Paul]] never personally visited [[Colossae]], he wrote a letter to the church there from prison (likely in [[Rome]]) to address false teaching that was threatening the young congregation. This was the first and only church in the city during the 1st century AD, and [[Paul]] felt a deep urgency to pray for and minister to these believers despite never having met them, demonstrating the interconnectedness of early Christian communities across the [[Mediterranean]].
