# Holy
A biblical concept describing [[God]]'s separateness, otherness, and set-apart presence. In the [[2026-05-09 FG Away Day]], [[Campbell Patterson]] emphasized that holiness is first a feature of who [[God]] is, not simply a synonym for moral niceness.
# Key ideas
- [[God]] is [[Holy]]: distinct from and inaccessible to ordinary creation, yet present by his glory and the [[Holy Spirit]].
- Holy places are places associated with [[God]]'s presence: e.g. [[Heaven]], the holy hill/place, and ultimately the [[Tabernacle]] pattern in [[Exodus]].
- Holiness is dangerous as well as wonderful: sinful humans cannot casually approach a holy [[God]].
- [[Israel]] is called to be a holy nation in [[Exodus 19]]:4-6: a people brought to [[God]] and set apart for him.
- [[Christian]]s are called to be holy because [[God]] is holy ([[1 Peter 1]]:13-16), sharing the privilege and responsibility of being his people.
